Art is an inseparable part of human history. For as long as humans have been on this planet, we’ve been expressing ourselves through an artistic lens. This June, the Brown County Museum of History is excited to explore the world of ancient art! Check out their Art Inside the Cave program happening on Saturday, June 17th from 10am-11:30! This unique program for children is an exciting aspect of fulfilling the Art Council’s mission of fostering the arts here in Brownwood!
Children will have a chance to grind pigments and use their hands to paint on a variety of natural surfaces. They will work with brushes and more modern paints to discover the differences in techniques. They will go home with their creations! Seating will be limited.
To reserve a spot, please call the museum or stop by and purchase tickets in person.
The museum exhibits over 150 years of Brown County history, from the Penateka Comanche and the earliest Texan settlers to the WWII-era Camp Bowie military collection, as well as modern soil and grass conservation from Colonel Burns Ranch. Kids love the children’s area and the miniature Birdsong Circus. After browsing the rich history of Brown County, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the old jail across the street. Prepare to be transported back in time, where you’ll catch glimpses of what life was like as a Brown County sheriff… or as an inmate.
