It’s been one full year since the grand opening of Shaw’s Marketplace which means it’s time to celebrate! This Saturday, June 23, Shaw’s is throwing a birthday party and everyone is invited!
After having been abandoned for many years, the old Shaw’s Model Laundry building was left sitting unused. It was then that the McCrane family swooped in knowing this piece of Brownwood’s history deserved to be saved. Having purchased the building without a clue of what to do with it, the McCranes didn’t take long to recognize the need for a central retail space for small boutique owners and local artisans. Knowing the community rallies behind Brownwood’s small businesses, thus began the vision for the quality shopping outlet that came to be Shaw’s Marketplace.
The renovation transformed the old Shaw’s building into an open space housing 20 individual vendors. Not only have Brownwood residents enjoyed the clothing, home goods, and artwork sold at the marketplace, but the Shaw’s name is now eminent throughout Texas, attracting hundreds of out-of-town visitors to our city! Additionally, the McCranes just welcomed a restaurant with a name easy to recongize, Fuzzy’s Tacos, to the adjoining storefront and renovated the backyard into a beautiful, family-friendly patio.
Speaking of the patio, it’s time to introduce Shaw’s Backyard! The doors wedged between Golden hour Coffee Co. and With Love Boutique will lead you out and around the marketplace to an outside oasis of lounge chairs, lawn games, picnic tables, and misters! If you can bear the heat, Shaw’s Backyard is a wonderful place to spend an evening. Let the kiddos play cornhole and giant Connect 4 while you order drinks from Fuzzy’s. Whether you’re with friends and family, or even if it’s date night, Shaw’s Backyard is the place to be, currently open during the Marketplace’s business hours! If you prefer to let the heat die down, the patio is also equipped with a fireplace to keep guests warm in the winter.
A year later, we clearly have so much to celebrate. Shaw’s is throwing a birthday party in appreciation for the community that has shown them so much support. From 10 am to 9 pm, Shaw’s will be in full party mode with food trucks, cupcakes from Flour Power Brownwood, yard games, and giveaways happening all day. In addition, cool down with Scoops Old Fashioned Ice Cream from 2-5 pm, grab a piece of the cake as the McCrane’s blow out the candles at 3 pm, and dance to live music from Kyler Dean from 6-8 pm. As a bonus gift, Shaw’s Marketplace will be open an additional two hours till 8 pm for shopping.
Please join the McCrane family, the Shaw’s team, and the marketplace vendors this Saturday to celebrate one year of glorious business in Brownwood. We can’t wait to see what you expand to next! Congratulations!
