Locomotive 1080

The Locomotive 1080 is a Steam Locomotive built in April 1902 by Baldwin Locomotive works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There were 103 built and this steam engine is one of eight engines left in preservation after its decommissioning from service. The locomotive was given to the City by Fred B. Gurley, president of the Santa Fe System, on Santa Fe appreciation Day on March 29, 1954. On July 29, 1954, the locomotive was moved to Riverside Park where it stayed on display there for 45 years until it found its current permanent home in front of the Santa Fe Depot and Harvey House on March 30, 1999.
This locomotive is also known as the “Iron Horse” locomotive. It is adjacent to the Lehnis Railroad Museum & Visitor Center, so be sure to stop by for a rail-y good time!
