Texas Parks and Wildlife is hosting the Becoming an Outdoor Woman: 30 Years of Adventure Workshop April 21st-23rd at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood. Their goal is to provide an atmosphere where women feel comfortable learning new skills associated with hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, in a supportive and non-threatening environment. Workshops span a weekend, typically Friday noon through Sunday noon. The weekend is divided into 4 sessions, you pick the classes in which you’d like to participate. Around 8 classes per session are offered. Workshops are held at outdoor camps and/or learning centers. The atmosphere is “outdoorsy” but comfortable. Class topics are diverse and are divided into three categories: 1) hunting & shooting sports, 2) fishing & water sports, and 3) ‘other’ outdoor topics (e.g., camping, cooking, bird watching, plant identification). Classes are taught with a “hands-on” approach and equipment is provided!
