Live Reptile Encounter with Ranger at Lake Brownwood State Park

Get up close and personal with Texas reptiles! Join a ranger in the Group Dining Hall for a fascinating program featuring live, harmless native animals like a Texas indigo snake and Speckled kingsnake. Guests can safely observe and even touch these incredible creatures while learning about their biology, ecological roles, and importance to our ecosystems.

Hands-On Learning & Interactive Discovery

Hosted by Lake Brownwood State Park, this engaging session includes live animals plus touchable displays such as snake sheds, turtle shells, photos, and other materials. It’s perfect for all ages, sparking curiosity about wildlife and showing how these “scaly friends” contribute to a healthy Texas environment. A great indoor option for families, nature lovers, or anyone wanting a memorable close encounter.

️ Admission & What to Bring

This program is free with standard park entrance ($5 per adult 13+, children 12 and under free). Meet at the Group Dining Hall. Bring only a sense of curiosity! No registration required, though the event is weather-dependent if outdoor elements are involved (indoor focus makes it reliable).
